About the role We are seeking a highly capable Facilities Security Officer to oversee the safety, security and risk management of DroneShield facilities. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this role is central to ensuring the physical protection of our people, visitors, equipment and intellectual property. The Facilities Security Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring site security programs and procedures, as well as coordinating daily operational security functions. You will be the first point of contact for security matters, providing expert advice to management, conducting investigations when required, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Oversee day-to-day site security operations, ensuring consistent protection of staff, visitors and assets, in Australia and facilitate the same in the US and EU. Manage and monitor physical access control systems, including card access, CCTV, alarms and perimeter security. Develop, maintain and enforce visitor management protocols, including induction, escorting and sign-in. Conduct regular risk assessments, audits and inspections to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards and internal security policies. Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, audits and security-related documentation. Lead the response to security incidents, coordinating with internal teams and external agencies as required. Prepare incident reports and debriefs with corrective actions and lessons learned. Support the development and rehearsal of emergency management and business continuity procedures. Deliver staff training on site security procedures, emergency response and personal safety. Promote a strong security and safety culture across the organisation. Provide security briefings for high-risk travel or sensitive business. Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, service providers and law enforcement. Provide expert advice and support to managers and staff on security requirements. Represent the organisation at relevant meetings, forums and industry engagement opportunities. Oversee the maintenance and servicing of security systems and infrastructure. Manage relationships with contracted security service providers, ensuring quality and compliance with agreed standards. Contribute to site planning and office fit-out projects, ensuring security requirements are incorporated. Qualifications, Experience and Skills Essential Demonstrated experience in a Facilities Security Officer, Security Manager, or similar role. Strong understanding of physical security management, risk assessment and incident response. Proficiency in operating and managing security technologies including CCTV, alarms and access control systems. Proven ability to lead investigations, prepare reports and deliver clear recommendations. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation as it relates to security operations. High level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive matters. Desirable Current NSW Security Licence or eligibility to obtain one. Relevant tertiary qualification in security, risk management, emergency management, law enforcement or related discipline. Experience working in corporate, critical infrastructure or defence-related environments. Familiarity with ISO 27001, risk management standards or other security frameworks. Experience in developing and delivering security training programs. Current First Aid and CPR certification.
