The key duties of the position include The Role As an APS 6 Digital Engineering Manager, you support the Navy Intelligence and Information Warfare (NI&IW) Branch to deliver a large, high-priority Navy Capability Program (NCP). Your work will include collaborating with engineers, 'war fighters' and subject matter experts and contribute to developing fit-for-purpose solutions. You will contribute to the shared mission of securing Australia and protecting its people. The NCP scope spans electronic and information warfare solutions to protect the Navy Fleet from a range of threats. You will work alongside a diverse range of stakeholders to investigate, implement and manage new capabilities. As an APS 6 Digital Engineering Manager, you will: Develop and contribute to solution designs, systems views and architectures using logical models of components and interfaces to meet business requirements, Lead the development and production of solutions designs and systems and component specifications to meet the user requirements and business needs, Demonstrate detailed research and analysis skills in support of the solutions design activities and the development of options to achieve the required business outcomes, Demonstrate and apply knowledge of Defence systems and their functionality to deliver detailed solutions designs and architectures, Build and sustain effective working relationships with team members and management and actively participate or lead team work and group activities, Work collaboratively with stakeholders, management and subject matter experts to deliver the business outcomes, Design and recommend solutions to address issues impacting the achievement of desired outcomes, Interpret and assess compliance with whole of government legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks during the development of solutions to meet business needs, Demonstrate and apply knowledge of project planning in relation to scope, time, quality, communications and risk management for solution design activities, and Resolve problems using knowledge and expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. The Enabling Services Directorate is responsible for delivering key supporting functions across the branch, including digital engineering solutions. It works closely with Branch Executives, Directorate personnel and delivery partners in Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, Defence Digital Group and Australian Signals Directorate to plan, coordinate, assess and progress digital engineering solutions.
