Location - Canberra, ACT Security Clearance - Minimum NV1 Clearance Length of Contract: 3 months (possible extensions) Closing Date - 25/08/2025 Key Responsibilities: Review SMS documentation, procedures, and records to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. Conduct interviews with crew members and other stakeholders to gather information and assess SMS effectiveness. Identify non-conformances and areas for improvement in SMS implementation and operation. Research and prepare detailed reports, documenting findings, recommendations, and corrective actions. Provide SME advice on risk management, risk assessments and specific activities relevant to vessel safety. Liaise with external stakeholders as required to progress projects and reports. Promote a strong safety culture on vessels through effective communication and training. Skills / Experience: Extensive experience in maritime safety management or auditing compliance. Strong understanding of ABF and Defence safety management frameworks. Familiarity with SMS principles and best practices and understanding of risk assessment and management.
