Position Description 2310-Director-Technical-Services.pdf(PDF, 147KB) The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Director Technical Services, to provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Technical Services Directorate, ensuring the delivery of high-quality infrastructure, engineering and regulatory services in line with Council’s integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) Framework, legislative requirements and community expectations. The position is accountable for achieving Council’s Objectives within approved budgets and timeframes, fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with all statutory, safety and corporate governance obligations. What we are looking for in you Lead the Technical Services Directorate in line with Council’s strategic objectives, IP&R Framework and legislative requirements. Provide clear direction, effective communication and strong leadership to staff fostering a culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement. Represent the Directorate and Council in meetings, public forums and advocacy activities. Oversee the planning, delivery and review of infrastructure, engineering and regulatory services. Ensure projects and services are completed on time, within budget and to required quality standards. Monitor performance, allocate resources and address operational issues effectively. Prepare, manage and monitor Directorates budget. Ensure efficient use of resources while achieving Council’s objectives. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures including WHS and risk management obligations. Fulfil the responsibilities of an “Officer” under the WHS Act 2011 by identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing effective control measures. Maintain accurate corporate records and adhere to governance requirements. Maintain effective relationships with the Mayor, Councillors, General Manager, staff, community members, government agencies, industry bodies and other stakeholders. Promote a positive image of Council and its services within Council. Conduct performance reviews and competency assessments for staff. Support staff development and succession planning. This position does require work outside of ordinary hours. Promote Council’s EEO Policy and maintain a workplace free from bullying and harassment. Follow all Council WHS policies and procedures, work safely, report hazards and incidents and use PPE as required.
