Overview We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural team. This role will suit someone looking to work on both permanent design and temporary works design in a friendly and supportive team with a growing market leader. This role offers the flexibility to be based at either our Norwest, Sydney CBD or Wollongong offices, all conveniently located near public transport, cafes and vibrant local attractions. Responsibilities Ensure work output is of a technically high standard, meets client needs, and activities are commercially viable Produce high-quality documentation and design tasks with a demonstrated working knowledge in the use of approved design software at an advanced level Apply creativity, foresight, and sound judgment to proactively identify and resolve design challenges Monitor and manage project outcomes, addressing issues, dependencies, and deliverables to ensure successful delivery Lead design efforts on projects, coordinate and mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with company standards and processes Prepare project fee proposals and manage project budgets and invoicing with accuracy and efficiency Support management in the preparation of tender submissions, including detailed scopes of work and budget estimates Assist in business development through tender submissions and identifying new project opportunities Regular and active engagement with clients and other stakeholders Contribute to the ongoing development of innovative design practices and detailing Skills And Expertise Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering 8 years of structural engineering industry experience Maintenance of CPEng Chartered Professional Engineer status Maintenance of RPEQ professional status Advanced working knowledge in the use of structural design software, including SpaceGass, Inducta SLABS, RC Building, and Structural Toolkit Advanced understanding and application of relevant Australian Standards and structural design principles Demonstrated ability in preparing structural, detailed, and concept solutions independently Efficient time management skills to achieve project deadlines and budgetary constraints A passion for developing leadership skills Temporary Works experience and design delivery on key infrastructure projects is beneficial Employee Benefits Professional development, mentoring & coaching A range of flexible work options Community days and cultural celebrations Access to innovative technology Employee assistance program Annual performance appraisal and learning & development plans Regular team-building activities, social activities, and team sports Paid parental leave Orion Group highly values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
