They have over 90,000 SKUs and sell some really cool products. They are privately owned, have big plans for growth and they have a passionate team to help the business grow to its full potential. You will be joining a team lead by a CFO who is technically very strong, who is very commercial in how he likes to manage the business and is someone who nurtures and supports his team. It's going to be a great learning environment. About the role The role of Senior Financial Accountant is heavily involved in the month-end close process, GL integrity, Financial control, the annual Statutory reporting process and annual audit. The role is also very broad and there is great scope to support the business in a variety of areas. The role of Senior Financial Accountant has the following key responsibilities: Ownership of the accuracy of the general ledger, including the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations Assist with the preparation of financial statements and liaise with the auditors to ensure an efficient audit. Preparation of the monthly management reporting pack in PowerPoint (using Xero and Excel), preparing the consolidation of multiple entities, including a NZ subsidiary Providing insightful analysis of the monthly results, working with the business to ensure they understand the information, and this drives commercial decision-making Calculate and lodge payroll tax returns for all relevant States, including grouping of entities with common ownership Manage the payroll and all employee entitlements calculations Prepare and manage cash flow forecasts and manage working capital requirements Assist with annual insurance renewals, including workers' compensation and ISR There is also great opportunities to get involved in Ad hoc projects as follows: Assist in due diligence of potential acquisitions Identify and work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function Budgeting and forecasting Commercial decision making This is a hands-on role that has broad scope with the ability to really impact the business. The ideal candidate The ideal candidate will have the following skills, qualifications and experience: Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field CA / CPA qualification 6 years’ accounting experience with at least 2-3 years in a commercial accounting role Strong IT skills in accounting software and Xero Solid medium-level Excel skills, slicing and dicing numbers and analysing data Experience with preparing consolidated financial statements Solid technical accounting knowledge Comfortable reviewing accounting treatment in the areas of lease accounting, employee entitlements, leasehold improvements, inventory, and financial instruments Experience partnering with the business to achieve better commercial outcomes, increasing revenue, minimising costs and driving profitability The ideal candidate will have the following personal characteristics: A problem solver with an analytic mind Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly Strong work ethic Someone who takes ownership in delivering quality output A continuous improvement mindset – always looking for ways to do things more efficiently and more accurately A team player, someone who will help other team members and support the finance function in delivering better outcomes for the business This is a really exciting opportunity for an ambitious and smart commercial accountant to join a business with big plans.
