We’re opening our very first permanent retail space, and we’re looking for an experienced and passionate Store Manager to bring our values to life in person. This isn’t just a store. It’s the physical embodiment of the Merry People community. As our inaugural Store Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping the customer experience and setting the tone for what retail at Merry People can and should be. Our Story Merry People began in 2014 with a sketch, a leap of faith and a pair of boots. Our founder, Dani, was working in a corporate job in Melbourne and couldn’t find a pair of rain boots that were both functional for wet-weather commutes and stylish enough for the office. Drawing on her country upbringing in South Gippsland, and a longing for more creativity and joy, she designed her own. From weekend market stalls to a growing global community, Merry People has become a brand loved for its quality, individuality and optimism. This store marks the next chapter in our journey, and we’re looking for someone equally passionate about carrying that story forward. What you’ll be doing Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our first brick-and-mortar store Create a welcoming, joy-filled environment that reflects the Merry People brand Provide coaching, support, and development to the retail team, building a high-performing and connected team culture Drive store performance by achieving sales targets and leading a team that delivers exceptional customer experiences Implement effective visual merchandising and maintain high standards of store presentation Manage inventory, staffing, cash handling, and store administration Relay on-the-ground customer feedback and product insights regularly to our product and merchandising team, you’ll be the bridge between our community and HQ Collaborate closely with the broader Merry People team, with head office staff regularly on-site to support and embed our values What we’re looking for A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a retail management role, ideally within apparel, footwear or lifestyle brands A natural leader who can motivate, guide and inspire a team while nurturing individual development Passion for delivering outstanding customer service and building community connections Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving store profitability Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to feedback, problem-solving and collaboration Someone who genuinely connects with our values, authenticity, kindness, adventure and joy, and is excited to grow the next chapter of the Merry People story What we can offer Free Merry People boots (of course!)
