Your Opportunity: As the Senior Regulatory Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing recommendations, advice and information in accordance with the principles of good administrative decision making and best practice regulation. You will also be proactive and support regulatory practice reforms and initiatives that achieve strategic objectives and activities under the relevant legislative frameworks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Undertaking regulatory activities and making recommendations that support the unit to undertake its functions under the legislation and in accordance with the principles of good administrative decision making. Providing recommendations that are informed by data, analysis of evidence and accurate interpretation of the legislation and correspond with stakeholders on decisions and outcomes. Identifying and responding to risk in the sector through application of risk-based decision making in accordance with the legislation, exercising powers, gathering evidence and escalating matters accordingly Contributing to the implementation of effective record keeping practices, data quality assurance and modelling appropriate use of regulatory systems. Implementing operational policy initiatives drawing on feedback, evaluation and data analysis to improve regulatory process and practice to ensure the department and Director-General and the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board effectively meet obligations under relevant legislation. Providing quality advice and managing expectations of internal and external stakeholders including parents, governing bodies of non-state schools, sector representative bodies, as well as the general public on different regulatory activities. Preparing accurate, well-written communication on range of matters relating to regulation including correspondence, reports, briefs, regulatory decisions and recommendations. About You: You will be highly organised, be able to navigate complex issues, and have highly developed conceptual, analytical and communication skills. You have the ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy in a regulatory environment, including the ability to analyse matters, make sound judgments and recommendations regarding appropriate course of action, manage a high volume of work, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
