How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space: The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do: Coordinate closely with the Production Planning team to align technician workload with schedule priorities. Ensure tasks are understood, resources are available and builds stay on track. Promote a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Provide day-to-day guidance and support to Technicians and Senior Technicians. Perform composite manufacturing processes (e.g., hand lay-up, prepreg, infusion, vacuum bagging, filament winding, bonding, curing, trimming, and assembly). Support and lead the execution of complex builds including Pathfinder and Qualification Articles. Interpret and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and build documents. Troubleshoot production issues and provide real-time solutions during builds. Develop and deliver training materials to support technician onboarding, upskilling, and cross-training. Maintain a technician skills matrix and support individual development plans. Ensure consistent application of work standards and build processes across the team. Work with Engineering, Quality, and Production Planning teams to ensure manufacturability, resolve issues, and support process improvement. Provide feedback on tooling, process, and design improvements from the shop floor perspective. Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to build or quality issues. Ensure all work meets internal and customer quality standards Complete and review build documentation, inspection reports, and non-conformance records as required. Promote continuous improvement through daily actions and team involvement. Work with the Human Resources team to grow the Gilmour Space team as required Other duties as requested by Management Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Level 3 Trade qualification, Composites, or similar trade 5 years of industry experience 2 years in a similar leadership role Effective communicator with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong knowledge of composite materials and processes, including: -Hand lay-up, Infusion and prepreg techniques -Filament winding -Vacuum bagging and curing (oven/autoclave) -Bonding, trimming, and assembly Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience: We recognise you may not meet all of the below, but don’t let that deter you. Strong Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with the proper usage of mechanics hand tools & power tools Experience working in a low-volume, high-complexity aerospace or R&D environment. Understanding of MES or ERP systems for tracking work and materials. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement tools (e.g., 5S, root cause analysis).
