The Director Honours and Awards is an exciting leadership opportunity focussed on the delivery of the Australian Honours system and administration, congratulatory messages to Australians celebrating significant milestones, change management of contemporary systems and continual process improvements. The Director is accountable for providing team leadership and undertakes all aspects of people and operational management within the Branch. We are seeking someone with highly refined interpersonal skills who has demonstrated experience in exceptional stakeholder engagement. To be successful you are expected to have the proven ability in leadership, research, analytical, conceptual, liaison, influencing and communication and a capacity for clear and concise verbal expression in dealing with complex matters. The key duties of the position include Provide strategic leadership and planning across the Honours and Awards Branch to deliver on priorities including the Australian honours system, congratulatory messages to Australians celebrating significant milestones, Office reception, and oversee the continued development of the Branch database. Through collaborative leadership, ensure staff are provided with the information, direction, resources and support required to achieve desired outcomes. This requires an ability to lead, motivate, build and inspire the team, and to build engagement, trust and respect. Develop strong stakeholder relations, and liaise effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maximise efficiencies and promote the Office as a highly professional, innovative and responsive agency. Provide expert advice in relation to honours matters to the Governor-General, to the Chair of the Council for the Order of Australia and to the Chairs of the Australian Bravery Decorations Council and National Emergency Medal Committee. Oversee and identify continual improvements to the processing of nominations for Honours and Awards and administer military, meritorious and long service Awards.
