Description We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Officer / Accountant to join our Operations team and take ownership of comprehensive financial management while supporting our firm's growth through exposure to diverse operational functions. Reporting to the Operations Partner, this role combines traditional accounting responsibilities with hands-on involvement in Melbourne office management, client onboarding, sub-contractor management, and systems improvement initiatives. In that case, we want to hear from you! Key responsibilities Financial management & accounting operations Manage full accounts payable and receivable cycles using Xero accounting software. Process monthly expenses, conduct bank reconciliations, and ensure compliance with expense policies. Ensure accurate application of account codes and tracking categories in Xero. Perform comprehensive month-end and year-end closing procedures Prepare and lodge business activity statements (BAS), income tax instalments, and PAYG summaries Coordinate payroll processing, superannuation, and payroll tax submissions Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules Ensure timely and accurate lodgement of all statutory returns and compliance obligations Stay current with taxation legislation, accounting standards, and regulatory changes Financial analysis & reporting Support in the preparation of detailed monthly financial reports, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements and variance analysis comparing actual results to the budget and prior periods Support project financial management and profitability tracking Operations & systems management Be responsible for the efficient running of the Melbourne office in partnership with the Operations Co-ordinator. Coordinate insurance renewals, policy reviews, and claims management Manage sub-contractor contracting, onboarding and payment workflow Manage the client onboarding process through client portals such as SAP and Coupa Collaborate with the operations team to onboard new team members using the ELMO system. Provide training and support to team members on financial procedures Act as a trusted business partner, providing financial guidance to the Partner group.
