You will thrive working in a fast-paced environment, have strong attention to detail, excellent technical legal and drafting skills and a commitment to providing quality client service. While you will have a strong background in IP and/or defamation litigation, experience in other aspects of IP including commercial advisory and trade mark portfolio management will be viewed favourably, as will experience giving pre‑publication legal advice to media clients. You should be able to work independently, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and flexibility to meet client needs. Your Role This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a widely-respected Partner who has extensive experience in litigation in both defamation and IP and a team that is ranked in legal guides including Chambers, Legal 500 and Doyle’s. You will have the opportunity to work with high-profile media clients, across industries such as publishing, film and tv, podcasts, radio and sports. In this position you will be exposed to a broad and exciting range of work, including: Taking the lead running disputes and litigation in the areas of defamation, privacy and IP (across the full range of IP rights, particularly trade marks, copyright and designs), including working closely with counsel and occasional appearance work; Providing pre-publication legal advice regarding all areas of media law including defamation, contempt and suppression and non-publication orders; and Working for clients (including supporting other Gadens teams) in their acquisition, management and commercialisation of IP rights. You will be actively involved in business development, client management, and mentoring junior staff and will be expected to stay up to date on emerging trends and legal developments in the area. Strong presentation skills and engagement with the media and IP legal communities are expected.
