About the role As our Homelessness Engagement Practitioner, you will play a critical role in supporting vulnerable families, young people (aged 16 – 24) and individuals at risk of homelessness. You’ll assess your clients' living circumstances and create case plans to secure them more suitable, long-term housing. Your case management will balance between early intervention, crisis and post-crisis support depending on the needs of your clients. You will also work collaboratively with community partners and facilitate connections between clients and the wider community. Duties: Provide case management for young people, families and individuals at risk of homelessness Advocate for clients within the housing system, including assisting with forms, tenancy support, and navigating complex processes. Link clients to appropriate services and support to address their broader needs. Provide education to your clients around homelessness prevention, budgeting and more. Negotiating and working closely with housing services, utility companies and landlords. Provide tailored support to vulnerable clients in need of safe housing, including those experiencing Domestic and Family Violence. Collaborate closely with DCJ Housing, community hubs, and partner services. Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and monthly reporting in line with organisational standards. Skills and Experience Experience managing a caseload autonomously and providing tailored support to clients navigating complex housing or social service systems. Excellent relationship building skills and existing networks within the local community. Strong ability to advocate for clients, particularly women, children, and young people. Trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to client engagement. Strong communication and analytical skills, including report writing, case notes, and verbal advocacy. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain professional boundaries while delivering high-quality client support. Familiarity with CIMS (Client Information Management System) is a bonus. Relevant qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field.
