The Australian Services Union NSW & ACT (Services) Branch (ASU) is seeking to employ a Senior Industrial Officer who shares our values and is ready to support ASU members in securing fair pay, safe working conditions, and resolving workplace issues. Our campaigns have led to landmark wins like: Equal Pay: Up to 45% wage increases for community and disability workers We Won’t Wait: Securing 10 days paid domestic violence leave for all workers Our members work across: Community services: NDIS, child youth and family services, community legal services, migrant and refugee support services, local neighbourhood centres and more Public services: Transport and water Private sector: Airlines, travel, IT Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement industrial strategies. Provide industrial advice and advocacy. Represent members in workplace disputes and grievances. Prepare and run arbitration matters when necessary. Working understanding and experience of the Industrial Relations Commission, Industrial Relations Court and the Fair Work Commission. Negotiate successful outcomes for members—individually, collectively, and in enterprise bargaining. Provide detailed briefings to union leadership on significant matters affecting members, (e.g. decisions from commissions, courts, tribunals) legislation, government policies, and regulator guidance. Operate with independence across all areas of work. Provide collegial support to other staff members and may supervise other staff members. Demonstrate consistently strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. You’ll thrive in this role if you: Have at least 5 years’ experience as an Industrial Officer or comparable role at another organisation with transferable skills. Share ASU’s values and commitment to union principles. Expertise in Industrial Relations and worker advocacy. Have strong written and verbal communication skills. Are empathetic, detail-oriented, and resilient under pressure. Are ready to contribute to the union’s political and social justice agenda. Have a working knowledge of organising principles. Can work independently and manage competing priorities effectively. Are confident in supervising others and contributing to team leadership. Conditions: Full time, 35 hours per week. $103,970 to $129,125 per annum dependent on skills and experience. Redfern or Penrith based – close to public transport. Note: there may be a requirement to work in other ASU offices from time to time. 12.5% superannuation. 17.5% annual leave loading. 12 rostered days off (RDOs) per year. 4 weeks annual leave plus Christmas shutdown leave. 6 months paid parental leave.
