Description The Manager - People and Capability at Waalitj Foundation plays a critical role in fostering a positive workplace culture and driving the organisation's human resource strategy. This position is responsible for overseeing the foundational aspects of talent management, development, and employee engagement. Key Responsibilities: Performance & Talent Management Develop and implement performance management systems that promote continuous feedback, and professional growth. Facilitate talent reviews and succession planning to identify high-potential employees and critical roles. Collaborate with Managers to build capability through coaching, mentoring, and targeted development plans. Recruitment & Onboarding Lead strategic workforce planning and recruitment campaigns to attract diverse, high-performing talent. Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle, including job design, advertising, interviewing, selection, and offer management. Payroll & HR Operations Ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing, including superannuation, leave entitlements, and award interpretation. Maintain HRIS and employee records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Streamline HR processes and systems to improve efficiency and employee experience. Wellbeing, Health & Safety Champion a proactive approach to employee wellbeing, including mental health support, EAP programs, and wellness initiatives. Collaborate with WHS teams to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and promote a culture of safety. Staff Development & Engagement Design and implement learning and development programs aligned with organisational goals and individual aspirations. Lead employee engagement strategies, including surveys, action planning, and recognition programs. Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Compliance & Grievance Management Ensure HR policies and procedures are up-to-date, legally compliant with relevant legislation,and consistently applied. Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and grievance resolution. Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on complex HR issues, risk mitigation, and change management. This role requires a proactive approach to people management, focusing on creating a supportive environment that encourages professional growth while aligning with the mission of Waalitj Foundation. The successful candidate will also play a key role in promoting diversity and inclusion within the workforce. Skills And Experiences About You Strong leadership and management abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficient in HR software preferred and data management systems Strong knowledge of employment legislation, modern awards, and HR best practices. Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities Ability to foster a positive workplace culture and employee engagement Competence in training, development, and performance management techniques Strong analytical skills to interpret HR metrics and inform decision-making Required experiences A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a human resources role with at least 2 years in a managerial position Experience using ELMO system is preferred but not essential Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with organisational goals Experience managing recruitment processes, including talent acquisition and onboarding programmes Proven track record of enhancing employee performance through effective training initiatives Experience in handling employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions Experience with Payroll management processing Experience working within non-profit organisations or community-focused entities is preferred but not essential.
