About The Role As a Senior Software Engineer at Babcock, you’ll play a key role in delivering cutting-edge communications systems that support mission-critical operations around the world. You’ll work as part of a highly skilled, globally distributed engineering team, contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle – from requirement derivation and system design through to coding, integration, testing, and deployment. You’ll provide technical leadership across software design, development, and verification activities, applying your engineering expertise to solve complex problems. Working within Agile delivery frameworks, you’ll help drive improvements in processes, mentor less experienced engineers, and take ownership of software builds and releases. Responsibilities Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle – from requirements derivation and system design to coding, integration, testing, and deployment. Provide technical leadership across software design, development, and verification activities. Drive process improvements within Agile delivery frameworks and mentor junior engineers. Own software builds and releases, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Qualifications / What You Will Bring Extensive experience in Software Development. Proven experience with C++, C, Python. Understanding and experience of Object-Oriented Programming. Understanding of Agile Software Engineering best practices. Experience with making engineering and architecture design decisions. Experience with a modern IDE such as VS Code and Visual Studio 2022. Understanding of static code analysis tools. Experience with Windows Visual Studio C++ Toolkits for development. Understanding of DevOps and Automated Testing. Understanding of both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies. About You You’re an experienced and motivated software engineer with a deep understanding of software development practices and a track record of delivering high-quality technical outcomes. You’re comfortable leading software teams or initiatives and working with complex, safety-focused systems.
