Senior Engineer at Equans Solar & Storage Join to apply for the Senior Engineer role at Equans Solar & Storage Overview Our Australian team consists of approximately 35 highly skilled engineers, and it is expanding rapidly due to the growth of large-scale PV projects. As we enter into new opportunities involving substations and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), our central engineering team in France will provide support to ensure smooth integration and implementation. Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PV Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in PV and hybrid (PV storage) projects. Within this role, you’ll be involved during the sales and execution stages; leading the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and ensuring all projects meet technical specifications, safety standards, and client requirements. Additionally, you will maintain frequent communication with the Head of PV & BESS Engineering, ensuring cohesive collaboration and successful project outcomes. Key Responsibilities Review and validate energy yield assessments and system performance calculations. Lead the design and optimization of solar PV systems. Collaborate closely with internal/external teams: Project Development, Origination, Civil and Electrical Engineering, Procurement, Energy Assessment, Execution, and Construction. Support project development through feasibility studies and site assessments. Suggest optimizations to improve plant performance, reduce LCOE, or mitigate site-specific challenges. Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (trackers, bifacial modules, hybrid systems). Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with local standards, codes, and safety improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or related field. Extensive experience in solar PV Engineering, including projects for utility-scale projects. Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, and MS Office. Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain a strategic approach. Willingness to travel to project sites as required. Other Desirable Qualifications Experience with renewable energy projects, integration of renewable energy sources and BESS. Familiarity with advanced energy storage technologies and their applications. Knowledge of system planning, fault calculation and power quality.
