Overview Regulatory Economist – Energy Infrastructure Preferred: Sydney & Brisbane | Considered Melbourne We’re partnering with a leading investment fund in clean energy infrastructure to find a Regulatory Economist who can bring deep regulatory expertise into a fast-moving transactions team. This is your chance to be at the centre of Australia’s energy transition — turning complex regulation into real-world investment opportunities that shape the future of the grid. What you’ll do Be the go-to expert on East Coast transmission & distribution regulations. Provide regulatory insight to support investment and transaction execution . Navigate regulatory barriers and identify new market opportunities . Support business development, testing ideas like data centres and emerging plays . Lead client and stakeholder engagement, advocating for investor perspectives. Drive thought leadership on how regulation shapes commercial strategy. Background: 5 years in regulatory economics , ideally from a DNSP/TNSP, utility, or corporate with regulatory exposure. Strong understanding of the Australian energy market conditions and the public policy environment. Strong commercial grounding - not a pure policy/advisory economist. Experience in investment, transactions, or infrastructure strategy is highly valued. Known as a creative, solutions-focused thinker who works well in a collaborative team.
