We cater to students in Years 7–12 who present with mild intellectual disabilities, complex behaviours, and diagnosed mental health conditions. With enrolments capped at 63, we provide a highly individualised and trauma-informed learning environment where students feel safe, understood, and supported to thrive. Our student population reflects a rich and complex diversity. Around 50% of our students identify as Aboriginal, 15% are in Out of Home Care (OoHC), and 22% are learners who require English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) support. Our Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) of 188 highlights the significant socio-economic challenges faced by many of our students and their families. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy Specific Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with complex emotional dysregulation, intellectual disabilities, and behavioural needs.Experience and skills in planning and delivering data-driven, whole-school programs and initiatives that build staff capacity and lead to improved student outcomes.Proven experience working collaboratively with the school executive team and a multidisciplinary team to effectively manage complex issues and competing priorities, resulting in improved outcomes for individual students.Demonstrated experience in connecting with the community and implementing culturally appropriate programs, including educational initiatives, to improve outcomes and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at school and beyond.
