Join Westpac’s Model Risk team as a manager focused on Enterprise models. This role is within the independent validation team, providing oversight and challenge across a broad range of Group-wide models including capital, funding, liquidity, operational, conduct, compliance, and financial crime risks. You’ll lead validations, guide junior team members, and help uplift model risk management practices across the bank. Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences are key to success in this role. This is a permanent, full-time role based in Sydney (preferred), but we are open to candidates based in Melbourne, with flexible hybrid working arrangements available. What do I need? We’re looking for someone who brings: Significant experience in model validation or development, ideally across multiple risk classes including capital, liquidity, and financial crime Strong programming skills (e.g. SAS, SQL, R, Python) and the ability to interpret regulatory standards, financial statements, and Pillar III reports Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts and influence non-technical and senior stakeholders Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and constructive approach to challenge Experience mentoring junior team members and contributing to the uplift of model risk practices, including interest in AI model validation Why join us?
