Join the Conservation and Heritage Regulator Advisory Board About The Conservation and Heritage Regulator (CHR) Advisor Board The Conservation and Heritage Regulator (CHR) Advisory Board has been established as an advisory board within DCCEEW to provide independent insights, expert advice, and guidance to support the successful establishment and operation of the regulator. The successful establishment and operation of the regulator, includes: the effective, efficient, transparent and accountable application of compliance and enforcement measures maintaining public confidence in the enforcement of the legislation, and providing feedback to help improve the regulator’s operating environment including legislation and policies. We’re seeking experienced and passionate individuals to help guide the strategic direction of the Conservation and Heritage Regulator. As a board member, you’ll contribute to protecting NSW’s natural and cultural heritage, shaping effective regulation, and supporting conservation programs that deliver real impact. If you have expertise in regulatory operations, environmental science, heritage, law, or community engagement, we’d love to hear from you. We are seeking an experienced Chair and Advisory Board members to work closely with the Deputy Secretary and the Chief Regulatory Officer, the board will play a critical role in advising on CHR’s operating model, governance framework, strategic priorities, and foundational capabilities. About Conservation Programs, Regulation & Heritage (CPHR) The CPHR division within the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) plays a vital role in protecting and managing the state’s natural and cultural heritage. It oversees a wide range of conservation initiatives across public and private lands, supports biodiversity through long-term stewardship programs, and ensures compliance with key environmental legislation. Through partnerships with landholders, Aboriginal communities, and local stakeholders, CPHR delivers programs that safeguard threatened species, ecosystems, and culturally significant landscapes. Position criteria The Board shall be comprised of; up to 5 members who meet the requirements set out within the selection criteria below up to 2 ex-officio members, being the Deputy Secretary and Chief Regulatory Office Selection criteria Selection criteria for members should have relevant expertise and backgrounds in one or more of the following, but is not limited to: Regulatory operations and strategy, including in setting regulatory priorities and deciding on compliance strategies Regulatory law and policy Natural resource management, environmental and/or heritage policy First Nations knowledge and engagement Public sector governance and reform Community and industry stakeholder perspectives; and/or Organisational design and transformation.
