The key duties of the position include The Role As part of the Program Performance team, the APS5 Assurance Officer is accountable under limited direction to monitor and deliver governance, assurance, auditing and corporate reporting activities in support of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide (RCDVS) Defence Implementation Program (the Program). They will understand and apply assurance and governance procedures, practices and frameworks. The APS5 Assurance Officer will conduct research and develop documents to facilitate assurance improvement activities, analyse and suggest improvements to assurance policies and procedures to ensure appropriate performance against best practice. They will interpret numerical data and written information to support assessment of the Program's effectiveness in the delivery of Government objectives. The APS5 Assurance Officer will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex program issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Program outcomes. They will provide advice on quality assurance processes and business improvement activities. They will build team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit. They may exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes. About our Team The Defence Royal Commission Program Management Office (DRCPMO) is responsible for the governance and oversight arrangements for the RCDVS Defence Implementation Program. As such, the DRCPMO works with the Groups and Services to ensure the implementation of the RDCVS recommendations aligns with Government intent. The Assurance team is a small team that integrates with the other APS staff within the Program Performance Directorate. The Assurance team supports the assessment of the Program's effective and efficient delivery of meaningful change that addresses the factors that lead to suicide and suicidality in the veteran community.
