The Opportunity This is a rare 12-month labour hire contract (with potential extension) to join a large Federal Government department through HorizonOne. In this role, you will support financial management and executive decision-making while gaining exposure to complex projects and strategic initiatives. It’s a good opportunity for someone seeking a long-term hourly rate contract and valuable APS experience. Flexible working arrangements are available, with 2–3 days from home once onboarding and training are complete. The Role Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support Directors in managing BAU and project budgets, including tracking spend and reporting variances Prepare regular financial status reports and insights for the Executive team Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and ensure cost control Maintain effective relationships with Project Managers, Finance Business Partners, and Reporting teams Assist in developing and improving budget management and reporting processes Ensure compliance with organisational financial policies and governance requirements The Ideal Person We are seeking a finance professional with 5 years’ experience in the Federal Government, with expertise in financial reporting, month-end cycles, budget management, and accruals. You are proactive, detail-oriented, and able to provide accurate financial insights to support decision-making in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’re likely to be working in the APS currently and bring a strong understanding of government financial processes. To be eligible, you must be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance.
