We ask you to be your authentic self, to always speak your mind and to bring your best.  Let's talk about the Role: As a key member of the Materials Technology team, you will be working alongside your direct team mates as well as those from ResMed design, manufacturing, and supply teams. You will use your superior technical skills to robustly and creatively solve material related issues and support regulatory substances compliance across the whole lifecycle of all ResMed products; finding resourceful solutions all the way from research through to development, and on into a high-volume manufacturing environment. This is a role for someone who comes up to speed quickly and thrives in working at pace to solve real-time problems, able to excel at the very hands-on individual work of materials testing and data gathering as well as build trust and collaborate closely with others. Further, you will turn this quality data into actionable insight through robust and insightful data analysis. You will influence critical materials decisions by being able to target your communication of findings to all levels of the company - from rigorous, detailed technical reports, to higher level multidisciplinary technical meetings and senior stakeholder presentations. Responsibilities: Materials Characterization, Identification and Selection: You will expertly select and use some or all the following instrumentation FTIR, DSC, TGA, SEM/EDS, XRD, XRF, HPLC, Mass Spectrometry (LC/GC/ICP)) to gather data to inform actionable insights for the business. You will be required to travel (within work hours) to various facilities across Sydney to utilise analytical equipment that is not located on the ResMed campus. Regulatory Substances compliance: Monitor applicable standards and regulations, including, but not limited to, REACH, ROHS, California Proposition 65, EU-MDR and other environmental regulations, and coordinate proper testing when needed. Work with a cross-functional team to execute material compliance with identified environmental regulations, including assessing impact and coordinating tender and regulatory responses on company products to assure compliance in applicable regions of business. Participate in Root Cause and Failure Analysis: Youâll use known tools such as Kepner Tregoe, etc, to bring your rigorous critical thought process and wide and insightful materials knowledge to the table as the Materials Engineering Subject Matter expert. Continuous improvement: Youâll have a commitment to, and be proactive in identifying, efficiencies and improvement opportunities. Work Safety: You will be an ambassador for and an upholder of the principles of Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, maintaining a safe and effective workplace for yourself and others. You are a critical thinker, a problem solver and excellent communicator with honed influencing skills. Required qualifications; Bachelorâs degree in applied Materials Science or Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience  Preferred qualifications and experience: Honours degree in applied Materials Science or Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience Hands-on experience using many different chemical, mechanical, rheological, and physical tools to characterise materials Expertise in effective root cause and failure analysis activities Extensive knowledge and experience of materials, ideally those used in sleep apnoea masks and devices; plastics, rubbers, composites, and steel Knowledge and experience of high-volume manufacturing processes, particularly injection moulding Proven project management experience auearlycareers â Joining us is more than saying âyesâ to making the world a healthier place.
