Company : Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd About the Role Sime is seeking an experienced HSE Compliance & Quality Specialist to join our Group Safety function on a permanent , fulltime time basis in Acacia Ridge, QLD. Operating at Group international level, this role will be pivotal in shaping Sime’s global approach to safety assurance and continuous improvement. You will provide strategic leadership in embedding robust safety systems, critical risk management, and assurance programs across Australasia and the wider Asia Pacific region. Key responsibilities Reporting to the Manager - Systems & Assurance – Group Safety in this position, you will: Evaluate compliance with internal standards, legal obligations, and certification requirements (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001 , ISO9001 ), with a focus on high-risk operations. Drive continuous improvement of Group-level safety systems, ensuring they are practical, data-driven and aligned with the Sime ’s HSE strategy. Conduct audits and provide insights to senior leadership on systemic issues, trends, and opportunities for improvement. Liaise with internal stakeholders and external auditors to coordinate audit activities, ensure certification readiness, and align expectations. Monitor regulatory developments and contribute to policy, process, and control enhancements. Travel primarily across Australasia , with occasional international assignments to deliver regional and G roup-level assurance programs. Why Sime? About You A successful applicant will have experience in: A minimum of 8 years’ experience in HSE compliance, audit, or assurance within a complex, multi- site or regulated environment. A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field. Certified Lead Auditor (or Auditor) qualifications in ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 9001 Proficiency in audit management platforms and data reporting tools such as Excel and Power BI. Strong knowledge of legislative compliance, risk-based auditing, non-conformance and corrective action management. Demonstrated experience in leading or supporting both internal and third-party audit programs. A willingness and ability to travel across Australasia and internationally.
