Grant Street Kitchen is a popular artisan bakery and café located in the heart of beautiful Port Douglas, known for its quality food, fresh ingredients, and exceptional coffee. We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Shop Assistant Manager to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities Execute money handling skills and till open and close procedures. Supervision of staff. Stock ordering. Roster writing/ checking. Supervising open/ close procedures. Staff training. Coffee making. Accurately take and communicate orders and dietary requirements to the kitchen team. Maintain excellent knowledge of menu items, baked goods, beverages, specials and their price points. Ensure tables are cleared, cleaned and sanitised in a timely manner. Maintain clean and tidy dining areas, including but not limited to clean, polish and restock cutlery and glassware, sweep floors, wipe tables/counters/glass/windows etc. Assist with simple food preparation. Ensure the shop and display cabinet is kept stocked and clean. Ensure stock is rotated in accordance with stock rotation procedures. Regularly clean the coffee machine in accordance with company procedures. Prepare various beverages for customers in line with company procedures. Follow all safe food handling procedures. Deliver food and drinks to customers as required. Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes Experience in a similar position. Competency with coffee making and service. Able to multitask, prioritise, and manage time efficiently. Ability to manage staff. Ability to give and take direction. Well-presented and enthusiastic, positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions. Ability to work in a hot, humid environment. Be physically fit with unrestricted ability to lift, bend, stretch & twist. Physical activities include walking, talking, standing, stooping, hearing, seeing, bending, reaching, feeling, writing, grasping, handling, stretching, balancing, pushing, and pulling. Exceptional teamwork skills and ability to also work with minimal/no supervision.
