ABOUT THIS ROLE ASD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Specialist Contractor to significantly enhance the data integration, analysis, and visualisation capabilities within our government agency. This is a critical initiative aimed at improving data-driven decision-making, increasing operational efficiency, and unlocking the full value of the agency's data assets. The successful contractor will be instrumental in building robust data automation solutions from complex data sources, streamlining data workflows, and developing interactive dashboards using Microsoft tools and Power BI. You will work directly to support better data-driven decision-making across the agency. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a Data Specialist Contractor, your primary responsibilities will include: Data Integration and Automation: Design, develop, and implement automated data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from diverse and complex internal and external sources. Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all integrated data sets. Optimise data acquisition and processing workflows for efficiency and scalability. Data Analysis and Modelling: Perform in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights relevant to agency operations and strategic objectives. Develop and maintain robust data models that support complex analytical queries and reporting requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical solutions. Data Visualization and Reporting: Develop and deploy interactive and user-friendly dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI. Create custom applications and forms using Microsoft Power Apps to enhance data collection and workflow automation. Ensure visualizations are clear, concise, and effectively communicate key insights to various audiences. Provide training and support to agency staff on the effective use of dashboards and data tools. Solution Design and Architecture: Contribute to the design and architecture of scalable and secure data solutions. Document data processes, data models, and visualization designs. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in data management, analytics, and business intelligence. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business units and subject matter experts to gather requirements and validate solutions. Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Provide expert advice and guidance on data-related matters. TECHNICAL SKILLS Experience in database development, automation and implementation. Advanced visualisation and report writing skills in PowerBI, PowerApps, Microsoft Forms and SQL server reporting services. Effective data management and visualisation skills enabling the construction of a compelling story tailored to a variety of audiences.
