Directly reporting to the Finance Business Partner – Civil Construction & Hire (CCH), the Senior Management Accountant will support the Maas finance team in providing accounting advice and services to the CCH business units. The Senior Mangement Accountant will be responsible for financial aspects of the Civil Contracting entities’ operations within the CCH segment. The role will work closely with the Finance Business Partner and key stakeholders within the Civil Contracting businesses to p rovide high quality financial information and insights to guide decision making. Drive implementation of best practice business and system processes, treasury management, and financial reporting, planning and analysis. Align business and system processes and reporting across Civil Contracting entities and projects. Responsibilities: Project Management Accounting Ensure compliance to internal controls and processes on project financial reporting and progress claims. Analyse project performance, forecast final costs, forecast final revenues and variances against budgets and rolling forecasts. Budgeting & Forecasting Coordinating preparation of annual 3-way budget model (P&L, Cashflow & Balance Sheet). Coordinating quarterly 3-way reforecasts. Driving the monthly rolling forecast. Treasury & Working Capital Management Early identification of working capital funding requirements. Preparation of weekly 8-week lookahead cash flow forecasts. Variance analysis of weekly actual vs forecast cash flows. Review and approval of weekly supplier payments. Management of bank guarantees and insurance bonds. Month End Reporting Accounting control over cut-off deadlines and integrity review of data in group reporting tool (PowerBI). Responsibility for general ledgers of all Civil Contracting entities. Balance sheet reconciliations. Ownership of processing timeliness/accuracy of AP/AR transactions. Review & analysis of monthly project, P&L, balance sheet and cashflow movements against budget and forecasts. Preparation and presentation of financial information to senior management as part of monthly management meetings. Financial Reporting & Compliance Assistance with income tax queries from FBP and other relevant stakeholders to help facilitate group bi-annual tax effect accounting schedules (and annual income tax return). Review of monthly GST reporting to ensure accurate inclusion in the monthly Group BAS return. Assist FBP with audit queries during annual audits and half-yearly reviews. Other Ownership of business specific systems and processes. Drive the consistent use of business specific systems. R espectfully challenge team members with a mindset of best practice and continuous improvement. Perform day to day duties with a commercial mindset. Ad hoc project and FP&A assistance. Knowledge and experience required: 3 years in a similar role and industry. Experience with AASB15. CA/CPA membership. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication. Strong analytical skills and ability to explain variances. Intermediate to advanced Excel and other MS Office skills. Proven ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders across a business. Ability to apply strategic and flexible thought processes to achieve positive outcomes. Experience in month-end reporting Experience in budgeting and forecasting. The Senior Management Accountant role is a permanent, full-time position. The role will be based in our Sydney NSW office. Due to the nature of the role, travel may be required across regional NSW and QLD.
