This pivotal role leads rail and WHS safety processes across major infrastructure projects, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant rail network that meets current and future regional needs. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement safety policies, guidelines, and programs ensuring legislative and standards compliance; Deliver project safety assurance activities to meet organisational and regulatory requirements; Monitor and oversee safety assurance undertaken by contractors; Prepare and present reports on safety performance to leadership teams; Lead project safety management activities, including risk assessment and mitigation planning; Coordinate safety observations and ensure proactive hazard management; Engage with project stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and contractors on safety matters; and Contribute to continuous improvement of rail safety processes and culture. The Ideal Candidate: You are an experienced safety leader with deep expertise in rail or major infrastructure projects, able to balance compliance, risk management, and collaboration to deliver safe and effective project outcomes. Essential Skills & Requirements: Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety, Business, or related field; Minimum 8 years’ experience on large rail or major infrastructure projects; Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, codes, and AS / ISO standards; Proven ability to analyse safety data, identify trends, and implement proactive solutions; and Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
