The Opportunity As a leader within the Tech Ops team at La Trobe Financial, the Head of Data and Analytics will be responsible for shaping and executing the enterprise-wide data strategy, with a strong focus on embedding AI capabilities across the business. This role will lead the data architecture, governance, and analytics functions, ensuring data is a strategic asset that drives innovation, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage. You will oversee the development of scalable data platforms, champion data quality and governance, and lead the integration of AI and machine learning into core business processes. As a key technology partner to the business, you will align data initiatives with strategic goals and foster a culture of data-driven decision-making. The key responsibilities include: Develop and execute a comprehensive data and AI strategy aligned with business objectives. Lead the design and implementation of modern data architecture, including data lakes, warehouses, management of master data, and real-time pipelines. Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and standards. Collaborate with business and technology leaders to identify high-impact data opportunities that maximise the value of data produced by the organisation. Drive the adoption of AI/ML technologies to enhance decision-making, automation, and customer experience. Lead and develop a high-performing team of direct reports, including data engineers, scientists, and analysts. Oversee the development of data products and services that support business operation and innovation and facilitate data-driven decision making. Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements. Promote a data-first culture through education, advocacy, and community of practice leadership. Evaluate emerging technologies and trends in AI, data platforms, and analytics. About you: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field; or 10–15 years of experience in data leadership roles. Proven experience leading enterprise data and analytics functions, including AI/ML initiatives. Strong background in data architecture, engineering, and governance. Experience with cloud-based data platforms and hybrid environments. Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies and their application in business contexts. Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to translate complex data concepts into business value. Excellent communication and presentation skills, including with C-level stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive cultural change.
