About the Role Our client, a leading Australian bank, is seeking an experienced Financial Crime Business Analyst to support a major AML/CTF (Anti-Money Laundering / Counter-Terrorism Financing) reform initiative. This 6-month contract offers the opportunity to work on a high-profile compliance transformation program aimed at aligning with evolving regulatory obligations and improving financial crime detection and prevention capabilities. Key Responsibilities Work closely with financial crime, compliance, risk, technology, and operations teams to gather, document, and validate business requirements for the AML/CTF reform project. Analyse current-state processes, systems, and data flows related to AML/CTF compliance, and identify gaps against regulatory and internal policy expectations. Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable business and functional requirements. Assist in the design and implementation of enhanced AML/CTF frameworks, controls, and reporting solutions. Support UAT planning and execution, ensuring that delivered solutions meet business needs and compliance standards. Prepare high-quality documentation including business requirement documents (BRDs), process maps, impact assessments, and traceability matrices. Liaise with stakeholders across compliance, legal, technology, and frontline operations to drive alignment and delivery. Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and issues. Key Skills & Experience 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst within the banking or financial services sector. Strong experience working on AML/CTF, financial crime, or regulatory compliance projects. Solid understanding of Australian AML/CTF legislation, AUSTRAC reporting obligations, and global financial crime regulations. Demonstrated experience in business process mapping, requirements gathering, and stakeholder engagement. Experience working within Agile and/or Waterfall project delivery methodologies. Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills. Prior experience with AML/CTF systems is highly regarded.
