Impact You Will Have in This Role As the Donor Communications Specialist, you will work cross-functionally within the Development team to design, implement, and manage a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship program that acknowledges major and mid-level donors, foundations, and corporates, promotes their contributions, and connects them to the impact of their support. This will include creating written content for donor stewardship, such as impact reports, and other relevant stewardship material. Additionally, you will design and manage events to support donor engagement, such as morning teas, tours, lunch-and-learn sessions, and more. We are seeking an individual with an understanding of donor communication nuances who can showcase strong writing skills and adapt their style for different donor audiences. Attention to detail and a creative eye for design are essential. The ideal candidate will excel at simultaneously managing multiple projects from start to finish, while meeting tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities Create engaging, high-quality graphic-designed content and ensure timely delivery of stewardship communications, including stewardship reports, donor proposals etc Collaborate on planning and implementing donor recognition events, such as capital project dedications and donor ceremonies. Develop and maintain policies for stewardship functions, including donor walls, plaques, and event planning. Assist the Donor Communications Manager with managing campaigns and communications calendars, ensuring alignment with stewardship activities. Identify opportunities to connect donors with beneficiaries through engagement strategies, including thank you cards and letters. Handle donor inquiries over the phone and maintain accurate records in the CRM database. Support gathering case study stories for communications, including planning and conducting interviews and managing content in the story bank. Key Skills Proven experience in fundraising, donor communication, relationship management or similar. Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Ability to write copy to deadlines and adapt style to different audiences. Emotional resilience and the ability to work with emotionally challenging subject matter A creative thinker with an eye for design. Proven track record of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Conceptual and analytical thinking skills. Excellent time management, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage work independently. Compassionate and empathetic towards cancer patients and their families. Creative, curious, and willing to try new communication methods with donors. Ability to communicate complex scientific topics in an engaging way. Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset. An interest and desire to work for a non-profit in a healthcare setting.
