Job Title: Senior Health and Safety Advisor The Senior Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for identifying and managing health and safety risks across our client’s operations and project sites. The role ensures compliance with WHS legislation and company policies through inspections, audits, incident investigations, and safety training. Working closely with site teams and contractors, the Senior Health and Safety Advisor fosters a strong safety culture, supports emergency preparedness, and contributes to continuous improvement in safety performance. The role also provides limited support in environmental and quality assurance matters and requires regular travel to project sites. Location: Sydney Key Responsibilities: Identify, assess, and resolve workplace and project site health and safety risks, ensuring compliance with WHS laws, regulations, and company policies. Develop and implement safety solutions to mitigate risks and improve overall safety performance. Conduct regular project site and workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring all activities align with safety standards. Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Provide expert safety advice and coaching to employees, contractors, and management, fostering a strong safety culture. Deliver safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks to enhance safety awareness across all levels of the business. Monitor contractor compliance with our client’s health and safety standards, addressing any deficiencies. Ensure the WHS system is maintained and improved, integrating safety processes into daily business operations. Support emergency response planning and crisis management, ensuring all sites are well-prepared. Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to proactively resolve safety concerns and improve worksite conditions. Provide support in environmental and quality assurance matters as required. Travel regularly to project sites to provide on-the-ground safety support and problem-solving. Other ad hoc duties as required. Key Measurables: Provide mentoring, coaching, and training to employees, contractors, and senior management, achieving a measurable improvement in HSE awareness and compliance. Ensure the WHSE system is fully integrated with business systems, with all records accurately maintained and regularly reviewed for compliance. Implement robust risk management practices to identify and mitigate emerging HSE threats and address operational gaps. Manage contractors to ensure full compliance with HSE systems, delivering consistent performance improvements. Develop and enhance HSE assurance programs to improve operational compliance and embed lessons learned from inspections, audits, and incident investigations. Essential Technical Skills & Competencies Sound teamwork skills, and the ability to foster and maintain team focus in others. Minimum 5 years of experience in workplace and project site health and safety advisory roles, preferably in construction or renewable energy. Proven ability to identify, assess, and resolve health and safety risks, implementing practical solutions. Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and industry best practices. Experience conducting project site and workplace safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments. Skilled in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. Experience in training and coaching employees and contractors on safety best practices. Ability to monitor and enforce contractor safety compliance, ensuring high standards. High-level problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in safety documentation, reporting, and record-keeping systems. Valid white card.
