Description About the Role We’re seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused individual to join our asbestos laboratory team as a Trainee Asbestos Identifier. This is a rare opportunity to enter one of the most highly regulated and specialised sections of our lab, with full training provided. This is an entry-level position with a structured development pathway designed to equip you with the technical knowledge and skills required to become a fully qualified Asbestos Identifier. Responsibilities Assist in preparing asbestos samples for analysis in accordance with lab protocols Support fibre counting using Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) under supervision Participate in training for basic asbestos identification using Polarised Light Microscopy (PLM) Maintain accurate documentation and data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Strictly follow safety, quality and WHS protocols Skills And Experiences About You We’re looking for someone who is: Detail-oriented, adaptable and eager to learn Comfortable working in a highly regulated lab environment A strong team player with clear communication skills Willing to work with hazardous materials under strict safety supervision Familiar with basic laboratory or science concepts Degree is Science is preferred No prior asbestos experience is required – just a willingness to commit to your training and growth.
