GHD’s Ecological Sciences Group has an opportunity for a Senior Zoologist/Ecologist to join our Fauna team, based in Melbourne, Geelong, or Traralgon You will lead and contribute to a broad range of ecology focused and multi-disciplinary projects, involving conservation, monitoring, impact assessment and infrastructure development, in partnership with GHD’s clients, land managers and state government bodies. We’re open to applications from people looking for a full time or part time (4 days) role. This position offers a variety of work and will see you: Lead ecological assessments and surveys, in Melbourne & surrounds, Victoria and nationally Lead ecological assessments for large-scale infrastructure projects such as Environment Effects Statements and referrals under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Act. Assist clients navigate compliance with Victorian legislation and regulatory frameworks relevant to biodiversity conservation and environmental impact. Prepare proposals and technical reports for public and private sector clients Work with our clients to deliver practical and achievable environmental outcomes. Lead and participate in fieldwork, data collection, and analysis. Develop and implement monitoring programs to assess responses to management intervention or impact of development projects on local wildlife. Provide scientific expertise and guidance on ecological best practices to clients and project teams. Coach and mentor junior staff, fostering their professional growth and development. Work with our senior ecologists to develop internal training for our teams. What would you bring to the team? Bachelor’s Degree in Science with a Zoology, Ecology or Environmental Science major Extensive experience (minimum 10 years) that includes some ecological consulting In-depth knowledge of Victorian legislation and regulatory requirements related to biodiversity and environmental conservation. Proven track record in managing and delivering complex projects Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
