Mid-level lawyer Government client 3- 4 contract / CBD Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative mid-level lawyer with excellent technical, conceptual and analytical skills to work on contract opportunity for a Senior Solicitor. The role has a mix of autonomy and supervision, working with senior and junior lawyers as required. You will provide or contribute to the provision of authoritative advice to senior management and staff on a diverse range of legal, legal policy and legislation-related issues with a focus on leveraging the Division’s deep understanding of legal and legislative frameworks to provide relevant, risk-based and solutions-focused advice and delivery. As a high performing mid-level lawyer, you will have well-developed knowledge in a range of diverse core in-house subject areas. Some of these areas cover administrative law, litigation and dispute resolution, commissions and inquiries, corporate governance, commercial and contracts, Crown land use and development, agriculture, energy law and energy projects, environmental law, fire and emergency management, First Nations self-determination reform, natural resource management, and statutory interpretation. Suitable candidates will be an Australian lawyer holding or eligible to hold an Australian practising certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria). You will have ability to deliver accurate, concise, clear and authoritative legal advice in the core areas of administrative law (including operation of government and an awareness of Constitutional issues) and statutory interpretation, commercial and contract matters, corporate governance, litigation and dispute resolution. Experience delivering advice in two of these areas is mandatory and highly regarded in all. Experience in either broader general in-house or government legal practice plus well-developed experience delivering advice will be highly regarded.
