Summary: Join Technical Forest Services (TFS) as a Forestry Fire & Field Worker in Albany, Western Australia. In this casual role, you will be an integral part of our WA Fire Crew, dedicated to protecting over 90,000 hectares of managed forest land through direct firefighting efforts and various forest maintenance tasks. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to land protection and forest health while gaining valuable skills in fire management. Responsibilities: Conduct fire suppression activities and participate in prescribed burning operations. Perform weed and wildling control to maintain healthy forest ecosystems. Assist with fence repairs, erosion control works, and installation of signage. Clear firebreaks and conduct survival assessments for effective fire management. Qualifications: No formal education required; however, a background or interest in forestry or environmental science is advantageous. Entry-level position; previous experience in firefighting or fieldwork is preferred but not mandatory. Ability to obtain Bushfire Safety Awareness and Firefighting Skills certification upon hiring. Preferred: Chainsaw operation certification, First Aid training, MR-B class driver's license. Medical fitness clearance for fieldwork activities. Availability for weekend standby duties is essential. Proficiency with mapping applications (e.g., Avenza) and radio communication skills are beneficial.
