Overview: Facilitate strategic partnerships for industry engaged tech education and workforce-ready graduates at RMIT University Drive research innovation by connecting academia with industry, government, and community to deliver translation for real-world impact Full-time position with a fixed workload allocation split between this leadership role and the underlying continuing Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor role (0.3FTE leadership 0.7FTE teaching and research) The School of Computing Technologies at RMIT University is seeking a dynamic and visionary academic leader to drive strategic industry engagement and foster excellence in industry-partnered research. This role is key to strengthening the School’s connections with industry, government, and community, ensuring our research and teaching stay aligned with workforce needs. You will collaborate closely with the Deputy Dean Engagement and the STEM College Business Development & Partnerships team to build impactful partnerships, enhance graduate outcomes, and support innovation through real-world collaboration. This is a full-time continuing academic position with a formal leadership responsibility as Associate Dean, Industry Engagement. The role includes a defined workload allocation split: 0.3 FTE: Leadership responsibilities associated with the Associate Dean role 0.7 FTE: Academic duties aligned with a continuing appointment at Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor level, including teaching and research. What We’re Looking For: A PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline. Proven ability to initiate, develop, and sustain strategic partnerships with industry and external stakeholders. Demonstrated success in alumni engagement, graduate employability programs, and/or work-integrated learning. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development, particularly in collaboration with industry. Experience leading large-scale, collaborative research projects, particularly with industry or government partners. An excellent research record, including high-quality publications, successful grant applications, and demonstrated research impact. Ability to influence and lead change in a complex academic environment. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders. Desirable Attributes Experience in translating research into practical outcomes and commercial opportunities. Recent R&D industry experience in a field relevant to the school. Strong leadership skills with experience in governance, strategic planning, and team development. Qualifications PhD in relevant field.
