The Role: We are looking for a skilled and motivated Head Chef to contribute to the success of our kitchen operations. As Head Chef, you will take the reins of kitchen operations — from menu creation to team management — ensuring that every plate reflects our high standards of taste, quality, and presentation. The position will work closely with the FOH Manager, Director and management and the duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Lead and inspire the kitchen team in delivering exceptional Italian cuisine Design and update menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal produce and innovation Oversee food preparation, ensuring freshness, quality, and adherence to food safety guidelines. Prepare and cook dishes according to the menu and standardized recipes. Ensure consistent food quality and presentation in line with the restaurant’s standards. Rotating stock, ordering and maintaining food stock, food portion control, waste management, and stock purchase (receipt and storage). Oversee inventory, stock rotation, and supplier relationships To monitor par levels of the food stock, and kitchen equipment and inform management when needed, perform stocktake and food items as requested by management, manage maintenance daily and report any issues to management. Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to kitchen policies and procedures. Contribute to the development of a positive and collaborative kitchen culture. Adherence and awareness of Australian food & safety health standards & codes of practice. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to hygiene and sanitation standards. About the applicant: Trade qualifications (i.e. Cert III or IV in Commercial Cookery). At least 2 years’ of proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume restaurant Strong knowledge of Italian cuisine and culinary techniques Leadership skills and the ability to motivate a diverse kitchen team Thorough understanding of food safety standards and HACCP. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Ability to lead a team, encouraging and ensuring all team members are performing and working in a positive environment.
