About the Role As Policy Manager – Energy Markets, you will lead the development of strategic policy positions, regulatory responses, and market reform recommendations. You will work at the interface of market operations, engineering, strategy, and government to shape responses to critical policy, planning, and regulatory issues across Australia’s energy markets. This role requires strong policy insight, stakeholder engagement capability, and a structured, analytical approach to managing complex reform challenges. You will support internal coordination across technical, legal, planning, and operations teams while ensuring the organisation’s policy voice is clearly and credibly represented in external forums. Key Responsibilities Develop clear, evidence-based policy positions on key energy market reform issues Lead responses to consultations, rule changes, and strategic policy initiatives Coordinate cross-functional input into regulatory reviews and government-led processes Engage with energy market bodies, regulators, policy-makers, and industry stakeholders Support national energy planning, system transition, and market design programs Contribute to thought leadership and briefing materials for internal and external audiences Maintain up-to-date understanding of market reforms, policy trends, and regulatory change Ensure internal alignment between operational expertise, technical advice, and policy submissions Business Coverage National Electricity Market (NEM) and east coast gas markets Energy policy, market design, and regulatory reform System planning, market operations, and energy transition strategy Stakeholder engagement across market institutions and government Internal policy coordination across planning, engineering, and legal functions Candidate Profile You are a policy and strategy professional with deep understanding of Australia's energy markets and a passion for enabling reform in the public interest. You bring analytical rigour, clear communication, and experience navigating regulatory complexity in dynamic environments.
