Full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days per week), fixed term for 2 years with possible extension Unique and dynamic opportunity to play a leadership role in the Knowledge Exchange program, an initiative between the Charles Perkins Centre (CPC) and Poche Centre for Indigenous Health (PCIH) Base Salary Academic Level C $150,461 - $173,492 17% superannuation About the opportunity A unique opportunity has arisen for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Researcher to join the Poche Centre and Charles Perkins Centre. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander will play a lead roll and spearhead the development and implementation of the CPC and PCIH Knowledge Exchange , which seeks to build research capacity, foster community partnerships, and ensure that CPC research aligns with the priorities and values of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and closing the gap targets. Your key responsibilities will be to: Work within the CPC/PCIH team overseeing and supporting the Knowledge Exchange Program Play a leadership role in the Knowledge Exchange Program ensuring alignment with the project's mission and objectives. Build capacity and opportunity in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research, including the development of community researchers. Establish and maintain meaningful collaborations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Ensure research practices are culturally responsive and community driven. Report progress to relevant steering and research committees. Develop and implement a sustainability plan for the Knowledge Exchange. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Researcher who has: A relevant qualification in health, social sciences, or a related field, with postgraduate qualifications (Master's or PhD) highly desirable. Demonstrated participation in research projects involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with a strong commitment to ethical and culturally appropriate research practices. Proven ability to build and sustain respectful partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, grounded in the principles of self-determination and community-led research. Experience in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community researchers Demonstrated project management skills, including experience participating in research teams and navigating academic and community environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups. Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellness issues, and familiarity with relevant national frameworks such as the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). Applicants will be required to provide evidence to confirm that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person as per the University's Confirmation of Identity Policy 2015 To be eligible for this position, you must provide a statement and supporting documentation that addresses how you meet each of the following criteria for Aboriginality: i. be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and ii. identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and iii. be accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived. Supporting documentation may include, but is not limited to, a letter of Aboriginality signed under the common seal from a recognised incorporated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community organisation such as Land Council or Elders group, Aboriginal Medical Service or a letter on letterhead from a Local Aboriginal Land Council demonstrating membership of the Council.
