The Role An opportunity has become available for an Advanced Carer Peer Worker (Identified Lived Experience) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia. You will Work effectively and collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in accordance with peer work values and within scope of practice Work within professional boundaries as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide an integrated model of care Positively promote individual and family recovery orientation and principles to carers, families and staff members and share lived expertise from a carer perspective Provide direct carer peer support to carers, families and significant others by engaging in individual and group peer support, advocacy and education activities About you To be successful in this position you will require: Previous experience working within a public mental health service or the community sector as a Carer Peer Worker is essential. It is highly desirable that applicants hold the Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work (Carer Elective chosen) or can demonstrate that they are working towards the same. The team provides a responsive program of recovery-oriented peer support, education, and information for consumers, families and carers. The team's goal is to increase consumer, family and carer participation in the planning, delivery and evaluation of mental health and alcohol and other drugs services.
