As a Senior Calibration Officer, you will provide comprehensive calibration and technical support services to the Calibration Supervisor, as well as to professional staff within the Testing, Certification, and Calibration sections at the Safety in Mines Testing and Research Station (SIMTARS). Your expertise will also extend to supporting calibration needs across the resource sector, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of critical measurement instruments. Operating within our Calibration Laboratory, you will play a crucial role in maintaining laboratory accreditation standards, ensuring that all test instrumentation remains within calibration, and providing commercial calibration services to external clients. To succeed in this position, you should possess: Extensive and relevant experience working in a NATA-accredited calibration laboratory. Proven ability to understand, communicate, and implement quality management standards related to calibration services. Strong proficiency in mathematics and a thorough understanding of measurement uncertainty. Hands-on experience with a variety of test and measurement equipment. Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Excellent communication skills, enabling effective engagement with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. Additionally, you will demonstrate: Advanced metrology capabilities across new calibration fields. Strong research skills to support continuous improvement. A proactive, customer-focused approach to service delivery. Competency in using Microsoft Office suite products. Essential and Desirable Qualifications: A minimum of a diploma-level qualification in a relevant discipline such as metrology, mechanical engineering, chemistry, or electronics. Advanced knowledge of measurement technologies in temperature, dimensional, flow, and gas metrology (highly desirable). * Proven experience in developing new calibration techniques, procedures, and preparing detailed technical reports.
