About the role As a Principal Lawyer at Legal Aid Queensland, you will lead the delivery of high-quality legal services in complex family law matters, including domestic and family violence, counselling notes protect, child protection, and other related areas. You will supervise and guide a team of legal and administrative professionals, fostering their growth through mentorship, performance management, and targeted training. Beyond client advocacy and representation, you will play a crucial role in shaping law reform, developing policies, and improving service delivery to better support vulnerable Queenslanders. By building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across government, community, and justice systems, you'll ensure collaborative and effective outcomes for clients. Additionally, you will contribute to team operations by managing resource allocation, overseeing compliance with quality and case management standards, and engaging in professional development, audits, and community education initiatives. About you The ideal candidate will have: Substantial counselling notes protect and violence prevention advocacy experience. Demonstrated expertise in advocacy, case preparation, and ethical practice. Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a talent for engaging stakeholders and working with clients who present with complex needs through trauma-informed practice.
