Introduction The Company Mitsui Iron Ore Development Pty Ltd (MIOD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. Description The Role We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our close-knit Perth team. In this role, you’ll take the lead on financial reporting and analysis across our mining joint ventures, working closely with our Finance Manager, Tokyo Head Office, and partners at Rio Tinto. Key Responsibilities will include: Lead financial accounting, month-end and quarter-end reporting processes in compliance with IFRS, J-SOX and the Mitsui Group Accounting Manual. Analyse JV operating and capital reports, identify key cost drivers and provide recommendations to MIOD management. Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations, fixed asset schedules, and capital expenditure reports. • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling. Liaise regularly with JV operators and participate in partner meetings. Ensure compliance with internal governance policies and external audit requirements. Provide guidance and support to local and Tokyo-based colleagues as needed. Skills And Experiences The Person You are a reliable, resourceful and motivated finance professional with strong accounting fundamentals and the ability to manage deadlines across complex stakeholder environments. You bring accuracy, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset to everything you do. Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business. CA or CPA qualified Minimum five years’ experience in financial or management accounting Strong understanding of IFRS, fixed assets, and capital reporting Advanced Excel skills and ERP system proficiency Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally. Currently hold valid work rights in Australia. Desirable: Big 4 audit experience. Exposure or experience within the mining industry.
