Reporting to the Director - Policy, Data and Compliance, the Principal Data Governance and Analytics Officer is responsible for leading the development and implementation of data strategy, governance frameworks, data management practices, and analytics initiatives that align with the USI Office's business objectives. This role enables data-driven decision-making and leads innovation by ensuring high-quality and well-governed data, strengthening organisational capability, and promoting continuous improvement in data practices. The key duties of the position include Responsibilities of the Assistant Director may include: Lead the development, implementation, and review of data strategy and governance, including the data governance framework, metadata management, data quality standards, and the management of master and reference data to support effective and trusted data use, and compliance with Australian Government regulatory and legislative requirements. Manage cross-functional data projects from planning through delivery to achieve outcomes that support the USI Office's business objectives. Conduct in-depth statistical analysis and research to provide actionable insights and identify policy implications that support strategic and operational decision-making. Oversee the development and management of analytics solutions, including Power BI reporting, data modelling, and the design and maintenance of data warehouse and reporting infrastructure. Represent the USI Office in national or industry advisory committee or working groups, contributing expertise in data governance and analytics to support shared initiatives. Work collaboratively with other government agencies and research institutions to support the development of data sharing agreements and promote responsible data use. Manage a team of data professionals, including mentoring and building team capability.
