About The Team & The Position Digital capabilities include applications, interfacing systems, data and the underlying technology/infrastructure and networks across IT and in the converged zone of IT-OT coupled with industry interchange hubs and platforms. Due to solutions hosted by the digital teams, the division is uniquely placed to observe and validate the interplay amongst other business divisions within AEMO and with other stakeholders, across the AEMO ecosystem. As such Enterprise services from the division includes Strategy and Architecture, with a focus on providing business capability focused solutions across the value chain and optimising AEMO’s investments in alignment with AEMO strategic corporate plan. This position will provide stewardship, thought leadership, lead AEMO’s technology architectures to ensure they have the required availability, reliability, security, and flexibility to support AEMO’s System & Market Operations. This key role is to understand the business drivers, business roadmap, digital roadmaps and the target state, provide inputs to investment briefs, develop, and maintain domain architecture in the System Design domain, ensure design is adhered to enterprise architecture principles and standards through design governance and provide direction to allocated solution architects in the program Position Responsibilities Provide strategic and domain architecture Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for the System Design portfolio such as (not limited to) forecasting, planning, network model management – Electricity and/or Gas systems including the coupling to energy market systemsUnderstanding of the life cycle of utility assets and the information that supports this life cycle. Provide architecture SME expertise to the in-flight Program of work including the definition of transformation program architectures and roadmapsDevelop strategic and future state roadmaps in the System Design domain (@ enterprise level) in line with the requirements of the transforming Energy system. This includes the development of business cases.Contribute to the definition of strategic architecture to enhance the security footprint of the grid systems and applications. Manage and provide architectural advice to other solution architects in the System Design domainRepresent assigned projects at various governance forums including the accountability of presenting the architectural artefacts at the governance and exec forumsReview of the high-level design artefacts such as HLD (High Level Design Document), Interface Agreement documents, data migration strategy / plan. Provide architectural guidance to vendors implementing the solutions in various areas such as applications, API gateway, Integration. Identify and raise industry, business, program and technology level risks and issuesProvide advice, based on experience, on the risk profile and cost of architectures and technologies, and choose the strategy with the appropriate balance between innovation, cost and the risk of the project to the reliability and performance of the systems. Position Requirements Skills & Experience: Demonstrable experience in Australian Energy / Utility industry Experience on System Design, Network Model Management and Energy market operations – Value add A strategic thinker who is across industry trends in the utilities and supporting technology Proven experience in technical Leadership and SME advisory to Architecture, and broader digital teams across the whole division inclusive of technology, software development, IT operations and delivery. Build relationships, influence outcomes and secure support. Strong business and commercial acumen and an understanding of risk frameworks Strong experience with Microservices & Event-driven Architecture Highly developed interpersonal and expert communication skills, including consultation, influencing and experience negotiating technology / business / investment outcomes and responsibilities with both business representatives, industry and technology service providers Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance. Education/ Professional Certifications Tertiary level qualifications in IT, Computer Science or technology discipline ideal Certifications in relevant technologies, TOGAF or other architecture methodologies is desirable.
