The key duties of the position include What will you do? As a Protective Service Officer (PSO), you will be trained to detect, deter, and disrupt any criminal activity and respond to criminal and national security threats. You will be a frontline defender against terrorism and national security threats for critical infrastructure, key locations, and important persons. Your role will include: performing high-visibility vehicle, foot, or bike patrols providing static protection services acting as a first responder in matters of national security collating, retrieving, and reporting on data for operational purposes. Opportunities exist for PSOs to deploy to any Australian state or territory, protecting critical national infrastructure including: Defence establishments parliamentary sites and designated official establishments places with important safety and security requirements, like the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation Opportunities exist in major cities as well as remote locations across Australia. You may also be deployed internationally to support major emergencies or events. Upon graduation from the College, PSOs will receive a starting salary of $75,960 (inclusive of a base salary and 22% composite) plus overtime, penalties, and other allowances. Additionally, you will receive annual incremental pay increases and opportunities for career advancement. PSOs also receive 15.4% superannuation, including during all periods of maternity leave.
