About the role Security Officers play a key role within the Security team, providing strategic and operational protective security support and advice to the ACIC's Executive and other employees in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Framework (PSPF). As a Security Officer you will also promote a positive and robust security culture within the ACIC, and also support the Director Security with the development, implementation, education and management of protective security policies and procedures. We are seeking Security Officers with experience in personnel security and/or physical security, preferably in a Commonwealth or law enforcement environment. The key duties of the position include Assists with or contributes to the monitoring and management of protective security matters impacting the ACIC. Provide oversight of the day-to-day operation of protective security systems, including access control, physical key management and guarding. Identifying, developing and implementing innovative risk-based approaches to protective security management processes Responsible for personnel security and/or physical security functions within the Security team. Assists in the development, implementation and management of protective security policies and procedures. Positively influence the ACIC's security culture and prepares and delivers security awareness training across the agency. Assists with the development of various security risk assessments, including identifying security risks and coordinating the implementation of risk mitigation strategies. The position may require interstate travel and on-call arrangements outside normal business hours. Please note these are expected vacancies. Our ideal candidate To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes: Liaise, engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on protective security policies, guidelines and procedures. Has experience in the provision of protective security practices, preferably in a government or law enforcement context. Has experience in and an understanding of the implementation of risk management principles. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the applicable legislative and policy frameworks, including the Protective Security Policy Framework and the Information Security Manual. Possess interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and effectively engage with colleagues, senior managers and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing. Will have the ability to consider and effectively manage competing priorities and to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Contributes to a collegiate approach within the team that promotes a culture of flexibility and improvement Is able to identify and manage security incidents including the analysis and investigation as required and monitor and assess the internal and external threat environment specific to the ACIC.
