About the Role Sitting within Enterprise IT Solutions and Services , this role is pivotal to delivering on our vision for a modern, data-driven public sector. You will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of robust governance frameworks to ensure our use of data and AI technologies aligns with Queensland’s strategic, legal, and ethical standards. You’ll partner with teams across data science, legal, technology, and executive leadership to embed best practices, manage risks, and build a culture of data and AI literacy and responsibility. ✅ Key Responsibilities Design and implement data and AI governance strategies, frameworks, and action plans; Ensure compliance with laws such as the Information Privacy Act 2009 (QLD) and emerging AI regulations; Promote ethical, secure, and high-quality use of data and AI systems across the organisation; Advise on risks, legislation, ethics, and public value in data and AI applications; Champion enterprise-wide literacy and capability uplift in data and AI governance; Review and evolve governance policies in line with best practice and tech innovation; and Work with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent, informed adherence to governance protocols. What We’re Looking For Proven experience in data governance , AI ethics , compliance , or a related discipline; Strong understanding of privacy and data protection laws; A strategic thinker with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; Analytical and capable of translating complexity into actionable guidance; and A relevant tertiary qualification in Data Science , Computer Science , Law , IT or similar is highly desirable.
